THE RIVER SWEATER - ENGLISH

River is knitted top-down. The sweater has a wide doble rib on the bottom part of the body and on each arm with braid detailing. First the upper part of the back is knitted back and forth with short rows to create the slanting of the shoulders. Then stitches are knitted up along each shoulder, and knitted separately while shaping the neckline with increases, and then joined in the front and knitted down to the depth of the armhole. Stitches from both front and back are joined in the round and knitted down. Stitches for each arm are picked up and knitted along the armholes and knitted in the round down. Then, the neckband is knitted and folded down on the inside. Because the sweater is knitted top-down, you can easily adjust the length of the body and the arms along the way by trying the garment on as you go. The wide rib, the sweater will contract on itself. Be sure you wash and block the sweater when finished.
